What is Artificial Intelligence (AI)?
Artificial intelligence (AI) is rapidly advancing from SIRI to autonomous vehicles. While science fabrication often portrays AI as a robot with human-like properties, AI can encompass everything from Google’s search algorithms to IBM’s Watson to autonomous weapons.
Why Research Ai Safety?
In the short term, the goal of keeping the effects of AI beneficial in society motivates research in many areas, from business and law to technical issues such as verification, validity, security, and control. While it may be little more than a minor annoyance when your laptop crashes or gets hacked, it’s even more important than an artificial intelligence system does what you expect it to do when it comes to your car, your plane, your pacemaker, your automated trading control system. or your electrical network. Another short-term challenge is avoiding a devastating arms race with deadly autonomous weapons.
